Mister Ed
143 episodes + premiere (1961-66) 30m

A horse is a horse of course, of course... and this one talks, but only to his 'owner' Wilbur Post. As a result Wilbur spends way too much time with Ed while at times his wife doubts both his love and sanity. Meanwhile, Ed proves a born mischief-maker - especially with a telephone in his hoof. Still manages to tickle the funny bone.

Bewitched
252 episodes (1964-72) 30m

A beautiful witch (Elizabeth Montgomery) marries a mortal despite the objections of her somewhat overbearing mother. By the sixth season co-star Dick York's ill-health saw him replaced by Dick Sargent - who was quite conveniently a same first-name look-alike. One of the most popular TV comedies of all-time and still getting reruns.

I Dream of Jeannie
139 episodes (1965-70) 30m

As if astronauts weren't already chick magnets, while returning from a mission Major Anthony Nelson (Larry Hagman) finds a beautiful female genie (Barbara Eden) in a bottle on a desert island. To top things off, she is so appreciative that she vows to serve him and call him 'Master'. Now that's what I call a fantasy show.

The Flying Nun
83 episodes (1967-70) 30m

Surfer girl becomes a nun at a Puerto Rican convent and works out that her new cornette enables her to fly. She's not so good at landing though. And, except for the way some of us felt about star Sally Field, that was about it for the fantasy element. Noted sci-fi/fantasy writer Harlan Ellison did, however, pen two of the episodes.

Maniac Mansion
66 episodes (1990-93) 30m

A family sitcom ostensibly based on the LucasArts computer game, despite being produced by Canada's highly talented SCTV team this show never really amounted to much. Dr Fred Edison and his family inherit a mansion with an active meteor in the basement and a couple of them mutate. Had its moments, but not enough of them.

Harry & the Hendersons
72 episodes (1991-93) 30m

Based on the 1987 feature film, Harry is a Bigfoot who is taken in by a typical family when they find him on a camping trip. As with other shows of this ilk (e.g. ALF, My Favorite Martian), everyone works hard to keep the secret. Harry's curious nature, however, doesn't make things easy. Some laughs and a few tears.

Dinosaurs
65 episodes (1991-94) 30m

A family sitcom populated by dinosaur puppets. Jim Henson Productions shows off its animatronics process in this series about your average middle class family confronting life's dilemmas. The life-sized and lifelike puppets were controlled from inside by puppeteers. The novelty lasted three seasons before wearing off.

Herman's Head
72 episodes (1991-94) 30m

Life inside the mind of a fact-checker working for a magazine. Herman's psyche is represented by four characters - intellect, fear, sensitivity & lust - who hang out in a cluttered attic and discuss events in his life. Interesting concept that suffered from an overdose of low-grade humour, although it did last three seasons.
